Dear Barrack community,

With much sadness and deep regret, we inform you that our gala is cancelled. We have made this very difficult decision in an abundance of caution regarding the COVID-19 virus and with so much uncertainty about its longevity and severity.

The health and safety of our community and our students is paramount. We explored many preventative options but, in the end, we felt that cancelling the event was the most prudent thing to do. Our gala co-chairs, committee and our staff have put in months and months of grueling work in creating an impactful and memorable event – an event worthy of our esteemed honorees and our school; and it is so unfortunate that we cannot come together as a community to experience it. We have already been in touch with our honorees, and, as we would expect, they are in total agreement with our assessment and ultimate decision.

We thank you for your overwhelming and continued support and understanding. We will be in touch in the coming days as we explore other creative ways to recreate what would have been an amazing evening.

Thank you.

JACK M. BARRACK HEBREW ACADEMY’S STRONG CONNECTION TO ISRAEL

Barrack forges strong ties with Israel and inspires an ongoing commitment to the Jewish homeland and people through the study of Israeli history and culture; the celebration and commemoration of Israeli holidays and days of remembrance; participation in rallies for Israel; the promotion of Panim el Panim leadership conferences; and a proactive Israel Club that organizes programs and activities. In 11th grade, students have the unique experience of studying for a trimester in Israel, creating a lifelong connection to Israel and the Jewish people.
